In conceptual art class today, David gave John a fuzzy red hat and put red and yellow face paint on him. The assignment was “Give and take.”

On Tuesday, March 24th, Harrell will eat breakfast in the Coop, after which he will go on the Blue Bus with Peter Sturtevant, go to the Baldwin School with Jessie Taylor, play laser tag with John Muse’s class, present his past work in Stokes Auditorium, have dinner at John Muse’s house, and go to Walmart. We had a meeting and I was really nervous because I didn’t read Sam’s powerpoint before we presented, and it had all these sound effects so I laughed when I was supposed to be serious. We made a movie about an email Harrell sent us and one Sam sent back starring Louis from the Digital Copy Center in Stokes as Harrell.
One other funny thing that happened was the meeting was streamed live online, and when we were setting up James’ friend was already watching it and he sent James a text message saying the picture is blurry and turn up the sound. I spilled a glass of water, Jane grossed me out with some hair, we had a lot of ideas, it started to rain, and that was our meeting.

Hi, I’m Robin, and I’ll be working with Nao Bustamante along with Jane.
John Muse, the professor who conceived this wonderful “among friends” project, has been treating us lucky “friends” to a chain of emails with links to art blogs, sites, and exhibits. One in particular caught my eye, a piece at the Whitney by Corin Hewitt.
This is no ordinary exhibit. Corin Hewitt is living at the Whitney every weekend until January 4th (I will refrain from making an artist-in-residence joke). Read the rest of this entry »
